範哈塞爾號被海盜洗劫並燒毀，6名幸存者被一艘捕鯨船救起，劇烈的風暴又將捕鯨船打沉在非洲海岸附近，死裏逃生的人們登上陸地，他們將麵對陌生的自然環境、可怕的食人蟻、強盜、奴隸販子......
