西柏林，一家新落成的電影院正在派發電影票，招攬觀眾。影院首映的是一部名為《魔鬼》的恐怖影片。年輕女孩綺麗兒（Natasha Hovey 納塔莎?霍維 飾）對影片頗感興趣，她邀請好友凱茜（Paola Cozzo 飾）一同逃課前往電影院。
途中她們遇到另一夥年輕人，其中一個女人將影片宣傳用的麵具戴在臉上，卻不慎割傷了皮膚。這個不慎的閃失導致了無可挽回的大災難，該女子變成全身發綠的恐怖惡魔，凡是被她抓傷或咬到的也會產生同樣的變化。人們四散逃命，恐怖迅速蔓延。綺麗兒她們該如何逃出生天呢？
