父親是堂堂總統（邁克爾?基頓 飾），薩曼莎（凱蒂?霍爾姆斯 飾）從小便過著舒適無比的生活，日常中她處處有人照顧，根本不用她動手，她也十分反感受到太多的監護，她渴望得到更多的自由。此時，她接到了大學的錄取通知，她對新生活的到來十分期待。
滿心以為大學生活能讓自己過上不一樣的生活，薩曼莎從小不會做事的一點受到了同學們的嘲笑與捉弄，使薩曼莎灰心不已。同時，薩曼莎也遇到了自己的愛情，她與宿舍管理員詹姆斯（馬克?布魯卡斯 飾）戀愛了。戀愛生活為她帶來了很多甜蜜與美好，她漸漸也忘了那些煩心的事。
但好景不長，薩曼莎發現自己心愛的男孩竟然是總統父親的人，目的就是要監視她的生活。這樣一來使薩曼莎既憤怒又傷心……
